Books for Kids

In 2022, Tamara launched Books for Kids, her literacy program that aims to secure funding for copies of her children's books, so that children are able to take the books home and share them with their families, reading them again and again. As part of the program, Tamara secures funding for interested kindergarten classrooms, coordinates orders of the books through her local independent bookstore, Mystery Lovers Bookshop, signs every copy, and visits the classrooms to read to the children and distribute the books.

The visits aim to promote literacy, inspiring children to read more books and also to write their own stories. Tamara's "Why?" children's book series also promotes inquiry as a mode of learning and celebrates asking good questions to keep learning new things! As part of the program, participating teachers receive educational resource packets and crafts to supplement the books. The packets include lessons and activities in several disciplines, including STEM and social-emotional learning.
